LPGB.net is a digital guest book for so called "Lost Places". The site is entirely anonymous (no accounts, no IPs), and is supposed to offer an alternative to edding and graffiti. Out stickers are being placed by dozens of helpers world wide, and shall always be removable without damage. Everyone can help and attach stickers, read how: >contribute<.
It happens that users decline the location by accident.
However, it is not possible to use our site without location data.
In that case you have to manually re-allow it by going to your browser's website-settings.
The exact method is different with each device and browser, but can easily be looked up by searching: "manually allow location BROWSER".
ATTENTION: This website won't work in embedded browsers such as Instagram, if the app has no location access itsself!
In that case you need to visit our website from your native chrome/safari browser instead.
We need your location data to ensure that you are actually at the chosen lost place.
Otherwhise the page will not let you submit a new entry to the guest book.
To check this, we compare your location data to the LP's location data.
If you are the owner of a listed property of facility, feel free to contact us for a removal:
You can either write a mail to [email protected] or send a message on Instagram.
As soon as we acknowledged your message, we will get in touch and issue a removal.
The location will then be shown as locked on our site.
Naturally we don't want to cause any trouble, so would like to mention that do not apply stickers ourselves.
This is done by our supporters who'd have visited your location anyhow.
We hate vandalism and have therefore made the stickers easy to peel off.
The advantage of our stickers is the possible reduction in graffiti and edding markings which you would usually find.
Also our system does NOT leak any location data such as coordinates, so there is no way for this site to attract new visitors.
Maybe you'd even tolerate a few visitors here and there, and leave our stickers as is. Us explorers are not trying to harm anyone after all, we're just curious :) ❤
We do not save your IP, but:
When submitting a new entry we save a cryptographic hash.
The hash is generated from your IP, but is impossible to reverse.
That means nobody - not even us - is able to read your IP.
For legal and security reasons however we do keep logs, but those are cleaned in regular intervals.
There are many ways to assist in this project :)
For once you can follow and tag us on Instagram.
On the other hand you can also help attack stickers on your own.
We already have quite a few supporters, but there's never too many!
If you're interested, make sure to shoot us a quick message on Instagram.
Tell us who you are and what area you're in, and we'll send you some stickers for free :)
Once you received them, will provide you with a link where you can enter new places using your ID.
This requires a prior registration for our ID system.
Once you applied for contribution, you will be assigned an ID.
This will be your personal ID and may not be used by anyone else.
Your ID will be 2 to digits long as has to be placed in front of your place IDs.
An example:
Your ID: 15
When you're now making a guestbook sticker, you write your ID and 3 more trailing digits.
For example 15001 for your first location, 15002 with your second, and so on.
This will avoid duplicate IDs across the guestbook.
When another user is creating stickers at the same time, he can not accidentally use 15002 because his ID starts with (e.g.) 22 and so may only be 22XXX.
Each personal ID has a span of 1000 places, starting with XX 000 ending with XX 999, so 15000 to 15999 in this example.
Welp - that happens!
More often than not the stickers are in such remote locations that internet isn't really a thing there.
If you can't enter at all, leave us a message on Instagram :)
We will manually submit your entry.
Great, we will gladly take your feedback to improve upon our site.
Please write us a message on Instagram.
To show our graditude you will recive a lot in our Hall-of-Fame (under development...)!
